Who here has ever seen asparagus growing? No? Why don’t you find out! Asparagus thrives all over Canada and the U.S., and they’re a perfect addition to any dish. Better yet, these plants are perennial- you plant them once, and you’ll have asparagus for years to come.
Sowing instructions: Plant seeds 1 inch deep from April-May in open seed beds and in rows 12-24 inches apart. Transplant the resulting roots the following spring in rows 24 inches apart and 8 inches deep. Rows should be partially filled with a mixture of well rotted manure, peat, or light compost. Harvest begins in the spring 2 years after the initial sowing and lasts 4-6 weeks.
