Kale has grown in popularity over the years, as a flavourful and textured replacement (or addition!) to lettuce, in salads and other dishes. Kale is touted as a superfood, and indeed it is highly nutritious! It’s delicious both raw and cooked, and is very easy to grow, especially in containers- which is excellent for our urban gardeners. It prefers full sun, and evenly moist soil- and does well in cooler temperatures in the early spring and early fall. This kale has dark blue leaves, with dark blue, nearly black stems.
