English cucumbers are one of the most popular cucumbers around. They grow long fruits, that are flavourful and juicy when picked ripe off the vine. They are the perfect slicing cucumber, ideal to cut up for a salad, sandwich, or otherwise! You simply can’t go wrong with an English cucumber.

Growing cucumbers is easy, but like tomatoes, they can be a little finicky to grow well. They should be planted in full sun, but can tolerate some partial shade. They prefer loose, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter- adding an organic compost or manure should give your soil the boost it needs for cucumbers! Cucumbers grow best in warmer temperatures, so they should be planted outside only when the weather warms up- once it’s consistently 15-32 degrees Celsius, plant them outside. For extra warmth, place black plastic or black mulch around the base of the plant. Shelter the plants if there are sudden cold spikes. Keep soil evenly moist, and do not let the soil dry out- they are water loving plants.
