Description
A sweet, yellow melon that serves as a wonderful, refreshing treat in the summer- whether in a fresh summer salad, or as dessert after a backyard barbecue! However, cantaloupe tastes much better fresh from your garden, with a sweet, sugary taste that you simply can’t get from the grocery store. So why not try your hand at cantaloupe this year?
Cantaloupe is rather easy to grow. Plant them in full sun, in a well-draining soil. Ensure the soil around them remains weed free. They need about 1-2 inches of water every week, usually summer rains will provide this amount. However, if there is a particularly dry period, water deeply but infrequently to achieve that amount. As the melons mature, reduce watering, as this helps them have a sweeter flavour.
