Description
Butternut squash is one of the most popular varieties by far, being a staple of Thanksgiving meals all over North America. With a sweet, buttery taste and thick, hard rind, it’s not hard to see why. Bake it, steam it, roast it or broil it, prepare it how you want- it’s delicious in almost every way. Fresh from the garden especially, the flavour will be delectable.
Care for butternut squash is similar to other squashes. They should be planted in fertile soil. Add organic compost or manure to enhance soil in preparation for squash. They grow large, so the plant should be given plenty of space.
