An evergreen climbing vine, English Ivy is one of the most popular types of vines on the market. It looks gorgeous all year round with its dense foliage and unmistakable leaves. It serves well as both a climbing plant on a trellis, wall, fence or other structure, or as ground cover for your garden. It will stand out amongst other plants, with its delicate woody stems and vibrant, dark green foliage. This particular variety has leaves in the shape of a teardrop- making for a more delicate look than other varieties.
It is very simple to care for. English Ivy can grow anywhere from full sun to full shade. It prefers average to moist soil conditions, and shouldn’t be allowed to dry out. While it is tolerant of colder temperatures, it will do best in an area that’s relatively sheltered from winter winds and snow. Alternatively, you can cover up the roots with a thick layer of mulch in the winter, to keep them warm.
