Description
Hydrangeas- they’re some of the most popular perennial shrubs out there! With big and fragrant clusters of small, colourful flowers, there are few plants that could ever replace the hydrangea. Truly, when you have one in your yard, it will quickly become the envy of the whole town- we’ve all seen a hydrangea we’ve been jealous of. This particular variety is a climbing vine, meaning it will require a trellis to grow, allowing you to create beautiful archways and displays with the lush plant.
Care for them is easy, but it can be difficult to do it well! For the first two years, and during any periods of drought, ensure that you water the hydrangeas plenty- they are rather water loving. It is better to water them deeply 3-4 times a week, than to sprinkle water daily. They enjoy a rich soil, with plenty of nutrients- which can be achieved by adding compost or manure. Blue hydrangeas enjoy soil with a low pH- so it’s good to use an acidic fertilizer or soil on these varieties.
