Vines are the perfect way to add a bit of a mystical and rustic touch to your garden- and there are few vines more breathtaking than the clematis. With large, star-shaped flowers and climbing vines with delicate, heart-shaped leaves, you won’t have a second thought about this plant.

Care for clematis is rather simple. They prefer sunny locations, and need at least 6 hours of sun a day to encourage blooming. The soil, however, should be kept cool- which you can do by planting ground-cover perennials around the base, or by layering mulch. As clematis is a climbing vine plant, they will require a trellis, fence or some other kind of support for the vines to wrap around as the plant grows.
