Adam’s needle is a unique flowering perennial, with thick clouds of creamy white flowers atop long stems, and long, thin and frond-like leaves. This perennial has a tropical feel to it that’s certain to give your garden a beachy touch- which is especially desirable when a vacation isn’t possible! The flowers also attract butterflies, which makes this plant a good choice for those hoping to turn their garden into a sanctuary.
Care for these perennials is rather easy. They much prefer full sun, but can tolerate some light shade. Towards the winter, layer the base of the plant with 6 to 8 inches of mulch, to protect roots from freezing during cold weather. Withhold all water towards the winter, as well. Adam’s needle enjoys well-draining soil, that is on the dry side. Doesn’t need fertile soil, so it’s a good choice for sandy, rocky or otherwise poor soils.
