Description
Jacob’s ladder is a ferny perennial with dense foliage, and delicate little flowers that look like bells- however it is mostly prized for its foliage. It gets its name from the ladder-like leaves, which can vary in colour from a green-yellow variegation to a plain green. These leaves form beautiful mounds of the plant, and it serves well as a border plant where it can stand out.
As with many perennials, Jacob’s ladder is rather easy to care for. They can thrive in anywhere from sun to part-shade, and they enjoy average, well-draining soils. They prefer moist soil, so it is important to not let this plant dry out. It grows best when it has protection from hot afternoon sun, as it is intolerant of high heat and humidity.
