Description
Pitcher plants are a unique oddity that undoubtedly, any houseplant lover will adore having in their homes. The “pitchers” on the plant are actually “swells” in the plant’s veins. The pitcher secretes nectar, which attracts insects to it- which they then digest in a digestive fluid at the bottom of the pitcher. They will then absorb nutrients from the “soup” this creates. Neat, eh? We think so too!
In terms of care, they enjoy similar conditions to orchids. They enjoy bright, but indirect light. They enjoy moist soil- do not allow their dirt to dry out completely, and an occasional flood to wash away salts that may build up in the soil. Room temperature is just fine for them!
